Release of The Mighty Quinn Song for Break's 50th Anniversary

Come all without, come all within, you’ll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn!

Mike D'Abo and Special Guests present the Mighty Quinn (50th Anniversary Edition 1968 - 2018) in celebration of Norfolk children’s charity Break’s 50thyear of providing support for vulnerable children, young people and families.

When Samantha Elmhurst was picked as the artist for the GoGoHares project organised by Break in partnership with Wild in Art, who knew that a recording could be in the pipeline for Ashton Legal Hare - Hare LeQuin.

Mike D’Abo, the lead singer with Manfred Mann of Mighty Quinn, Handbags and Gladrags and Build Me Up Buttercup, songwriter fame was contacted by Samantha who went to meet him to propose the song. Mike was very excited to get involved in the project and offered his full support with the recording and release of a 50thanniversary edition of the Mighty Quinn song, which reached number one in the UK charts in 1968...the same year that Break Charity came into being, so a double celebration with two Golden Anniversaries to celebrate!

Samantha and her sister Holly Elmhurst spent an afternoon getting creative and re-working the classic song, creating a more soulful, but still upbeat version with Mike taking the lead on piano and vocals.

The song was recorded in a Norfolk recording studio and the line up for the ‘band’ included:

Mike D’Abo – keyboards/vocals, Miguel Montalban – guitar, Mark Ireland - drums and Backing vocals – Samantha Elmhurst (artist for GoGoHares sculpture and musician).

Ashton Legal, revealed Hare LeQuin at the Puppet Theatre, in mid-April with an exciting performance in front of many of their clients and staff. The company are great supporters of Break, and previous sponsors of Patch the dragon in 2015.

Dave Richardson Ashtons Client Relationship Manager says, “You never know what adventure is going to unfold when you get involved with a GoGo campaign. With Hare LeQuin, his artist Sam and now one of the gentlemen of sixties pop all playing their part, we are heading towards an amazing summer of fun'’.

Michael Rooney, Commercial Manager at Break says, “As a music fan myself, this is exciting for Break to be involved with and we are grateful to Ashton Legal and Samantha for their enthusiasm and support to make it happen, with two 50th anniversaries to celebrate let’s hope this is a great success and is enjoyed by many”.

Mike D’Abo, says, “May I wish everyone at Break (not forgetting Dave Richardson and all the lovely people at Ashtons Legal) the very best of luck. It was a wonderful venture to have been a part of, and I wish you all well in getting Norfolk folk and all East Anglia behind it”.
