A Trace of Hares Exhibition

In recognition of the GoGo Hares trail, Norwich School is hosting an exhibition called ‘ A Trace of Hares’, which will show a collection of hare-related artwork produced by local artists and schools.

With over 150 children involved in the project from Coltishall Primary School, Poringland High School and Norwich Lower School, the exhibition provides a rare opportunity for school children to exhibit in a gallery amongst professional artists. Confirmed artists include Rachel Hutchins, Willow, Guy Allen, Ann Richardson, Terry Larwood, Olivia Larner, Sarah Bayes and Alex Egan. Their work is varied with prints, painting, ceramic and sculpture all on display.

Head of Creative Projects and Curator of the exhibition, Andy Campbell, is excited that the project has come together. “This is a celebration of creativity,” he said. “With over 200 objects on display it promises to be a magical exhibition.”

The exhibition is free and open to the public 29 June—06 July, 9am—5pm daily (closed Sunday) at The Crypt Gallery, Norwich School. The gallery is located opposite Nelson’s statue on the Upper Green in the Cathedral Close, where Norwich School’s own hare Norvicenses Salientes (meaning leaping Norvicensians) or Sally for short, will be sat for the duration of the GoGo Hares trail. Inspired by Dutch Delftware pottery and designed by current Art & Design Scholars, Sally, celebrates the school’s many connections to local history. Prominent Norfolk figures, some of whom are alumni of the school – known as Norvicensians - are interspersed with the words to the school hymn, ‘Jerusalem’, by William Blake.

Can you spot all the hares around the county of Norfolk in the summer of 2018?
