Poignant reveal of Poppy the Almary Green Hare

With the GoGoHares trail going live in 2018, Break are very touched that one of the sculptures will have a very serious and thoughtful back story with a commemorative element to remember that 2018 also marks the centenary of the end of the First World War.

However this is not just a memorial: the hare sculpture will also be a celebration of the tireless work undertaken by nurses during the conflict, both on the battlefield and at home. It pays tribute to the inspiration that women during the war have given others.

The sculpture, which is respectful, thought provoking and beautiful, was revealed at the grave of Edith Cavell at Norwich Cathedral today, the day before Armistice Day. Almary Green’s Managing Director Carl Lamb gave a short speech and then lay a poppy wreath at the grave of Edith Cavell whilst Canon Peter Doll marked the event with a short prayer of remembrance.

The sculpture is called Poppy and was created by Mik Richardson. There will be images and a story going in the EDP and also on our website and on the social media feeds. You may like to connect with @AlmaryPoppy whose twitter feed is being run by the sponsor.

We hope you will agree she is a very beautiful character who will be a timely reminder of the connections that Poppy and Norfolk Children’s charity Break stand for, both in the caring sector and looking after the vulnerable.

Thank you to all the people involved in making this happen - the sun shone, the company was great and the sculpture is beautiful. #GGH18#ChangingYoungLives
